Day 2/Yerevan – Garni – Geghard – Yerevan
After breakfast at the hotel start the tour driving to Garni. The fortress of Garni is thought to have been founded in the 1st century and was dedicated to the God of the sun Mihr. The temple is comprised of 24 columns and symbolized the 24 hours of the day. The temple remained standing until the sixteenth century, and was destroyed in 1679 because of the devastating earthquake in Armenia. Drive to Geghard (UNESCO) situated on a wild narrow mountain gorge of unusual beauty. The monastic complex was founded in the 4th century by Gregory the Illuminator, as the site of a sacred spring inside a cave. Drive to Yerevan. Dinner and overnight in Yerevan.
Day 3/Yerevan - Khor Virap – Noravank – Jermuk – Areni – Yerevan
After breakfast at the hotel drive to the monastery of Khor Virap. The monastery is received its name from the “deep well” where the first Armenian Catholicos Gregory the Illuminator was jailed for long 13 years. Here you can also enjoy the best view to Mt. Ararat. Drive to Noravank (13th c.) situated on high rocks of unusual beauty. Drive to Jermuk. Being situated 2080 meters above the sea level, Jermuk has long been famous as spa center of Armenia. And indeed, the fresh and cool air let you easily breathe as if curing everything inside. The mineral waters in Jermuk belong to the list of the most compound sorts. The city has its own brand of mineral water bottled near the natural springs. Drive to Areni – the haunt of delicate wines. Drive to Yerevan. Dinner and overnight in Yerevan.
Day 4/Yerevan – Tsaghkadzor – Sevan – Dilijan – Yerevan
After breakfast at the hotel drive to Tsaghkadzor where you can see the monastery complex of Kecharis (11-13th c.c.). The complex was under the rule of ministerial families who turned it into a major center for learning. The educational process was led by the greatest Armenian academicians and politicians of the time. One of them, Grigor Magistros, who also came from a powerful ruling family, supported the monastery with gold and silver, furnishings and decorations. A short stop at Lake Sevan. Drive to Dilijan where you can see the monastery complexes of Goshavank and Haghartsin. Goshavank used to be a major medieval university with a depository of monastery books. As for Haghartsin (10-13 c.c.), it took about 300 years to build with every generation of architects adding on new structures, outer and inner dressing of artistic expressive means. Drive to Yerevan. Dinner and overnight in Yerevan.
